The seven people in question have been charged with attempted violation of Section 114(1) of the Danish Criminal Code, that is the terrorism section, or with aiding and abetting in the offence. They are charged with having acquired ingredients and components for manufacturing explosives as well as firearms or having aided and abetted in the offence.
On this Thursday afternoon, another six people were brought before the Court of Holbæk, where the Prosecution Service requested that they be remanded in custody. The six people are all involved in the case.
One more person has been arrested in Germany in a linked case. The cooperation between PET and the German authorities has been excellent and efficient.
PET considers this to be a very serious matter. We believe that there are individuals with the intent and capacity to commit terrorist attacks in Denmark. Every day, PET and the Danish police do their utmost to fight crimes of such a serious nature.
It is PET’s assessment that the terror threat to Denmark is significant, and the case at hand does not change this assessment.
PET and the Central and West Zealand Police expect to hold a short press briefing in the late morning of Friday 12 February 2021.
As the case is being heard in camera, PET and the Central and West Zealand Police are unable to comment any further on the case at this point.
